Dr. Harold
Jonas, LMHC, M.A., CAP is
a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Addictions Professional
in the State of Florida. He has been involved with helping other addicts'
institute lasting change in their lives since 1988. Since beginning
his own recovery process, "Jonas" has worked diligently
to improve himself personally and professionally. He began working
"in the field" in 1988, in entry level positions gradually
working his way up to management levels as a Program Director. In
1995, the idea for the Recovery Zone was born after having difficulty
placing newcomers out of treatment facilities. At the time there just
wasn't enough affordable housing for those wishing to remain in South
Florida and continue doing the next right thing.
Jonas brings
an incredible amount of experience, knowledge and resources to the
Recovery Zone. He definitely goes the distance for those as invested
in their recovery as he is. He operates under the belief that given
the right set of circumstances, timing, willingness and an honest
desire to remain clean, most people will do the right thing(s) for
themselves. Positive peer pressure, self-imposed limits and mutual
support will reinforce healthy choices.
Since 1995,
when I started in the housing industry, I have had the opportunity
to experience many, many addicts reap the rewards of learning, utilizing
and integrating the tools of recovery. These are the true rewards
of doing what I do.
Dawn Jonas
has been actively involved in the Recovery Zone since the beginning.
She is the other, and some say, "better half" of Harold
Jonas. They have been partners in life and successfully extended that
relationship into business. When they decided to start the Recovery
Zone, Dawn observed, learned and supported the project. When the timing
and opportunity to expand was available, Dawn opened our second facility.
The "Yellow House" began operating in February of 1997 with
the same philosophy but with the qualities only someone like Dawn
could add. Since then she opened our fourth operation, dubbed the
"Pink House".
She has been
active in recovery since 1986, remaining clean since picking up her
only "white key-tag". During this time, she opened her own
business, operating a Specialty Resale Shop for ten years. She brings
to the Recovery Zone and her "girls" a vast amount of experience,
knowledge and commitment. These ingredients allow Dawn to provide
a unique environment for the residents to grow, change and solidify
their commitment to and support one another. Success has been achieved
by many of her residents. Many of the girls stay in touch and have
remained clean. Some have also had the reward of making lasting support
and moving out together as roomates.
Dawn is living
proof that the rewards of recovery are beyond our wildest dreams.
